The error message indicates that the Java update is not installed. Here is how to resolve Java error 1603 when the error message appears.

How do I fix java error 1603 in Windows 10?

  1. Make sure you have the correct version of Java installed for your platform.
  2. Install Java as an administrator
  3. First uninstall the previous version of Java
  4. Disable antivirus software
  5. Close the browser and other programs that run Java
  6. Disable Java content
  7. Open the Troubleshooter installer and uninstaller.
  8. Do not install Java via LogMeIn
  9. Uninstall Windows Update KB2918614

1. Make sure you have the correct version of Java installed for your platform

  1. Click the button in the Windows 10 Cortana taskbar.
  2. Enter a keyword in the search field.
  3. Then click on About your PC to open the following window.

  1. Scroll down to the system type, which tells you if it’s a 64-bit or 32-bit platform.

First, make sure you don’t install 64-bit Java on a 32-bit system. If this is the case, it is probably the reason why Java cannot be installed.

You can choose to run Windows x86 Offline, which is the 32-bit version. To check if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit, do the following

Another thing you should check is whether the Java SDK you have installed is 32-bit or 64-bit.

There may be a conflict between the 64-bit and 32-bit versions if you try to update Java to the 32-bit version to replace the 64-bit Java SDK, or vice versa.

So install the 64-bit version of Java to replace the outdated 64-bit version, or update the 32-bit version of Java to the latest 32-bit version.

2. Installing Java as Administrator

Installing the software as an administrator may resolve installation issues. Therefore, try to install the latest version of Java as an administrator.

To do this, right-click on the latest version of the Java installer and select Run as administrator to start the installation wizard.

3. First uninstall previous version of Java

  1. Download IObit Uninstaller PRO for Windows 10.
  2. Open the installation wizard to install the software.
  3. Open IObit Uninstaller PRO, go to Programs and select All Programs.

  1. Select Java and click the Remove button.
  2. In the next dialog box, check the Select All box to completely remove the remaining software.
  3. Restart Windows after removing Java.
  4. Install the latest version of Java using the 32- or 64-bit standalone installers for Windows.

Removing the previous version of Java ensures that there are no 32- or 64-bit conflicts when you try to install the latest version.

Add a reliable third-party uninstaller to Windows that can help you remove Java completely.

4. Disable anti-virus software

  1. Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager.
  2. Click on the Start tab and select the antivirus software.

Anti-virus software can block the implementation of Java.

To avoid this, you can temporarily disable many antivirus programs by right-clicking their icon in the taskbar and selecting Disable.

You can also temporarily remove the antivirus software from the Windows startup and then restart it. To disable antivirus programs on the Run tab of Task Manager

  1. Click the Disable button to prevent the program from running.
  2. Install Java after rebooting Windows.

5. Close the browser and other programs that run Java

Run a system check for errors

Press Start Scan to check for Windows problems.

Press Repair Everything to troubleshoot proprietary technology.

Run a PC scan with Restoro Repair Tool to find errors that cause security problems and slowdowns. Once the scan is complete, the recovery process replaces the damaged files with new Windows files and components.

Always exit the software before installing Java. If you try to install the latest version of Java, the programs may run.

Close the browser after downloading the Java installer. Close all other program windows on the taskbar.

Also, make sure there are no third-party program icons in the system tray. If this is the case, close the programs activated in the taskbar.

6. Disable Java content

  1. First press the key combination Windows + R.
  2. In Run, type Control Panel and press Enter to open the window shown below.

  1. Press Java to open the Control Panel.

  1. On the Java Control Panel, select the Security tab.

  1. Disable the Enable Java content in browser option if selected.
  2. Click Apply and OK to confirm.
  3. After updating Java, again select the Enable Java content option in the browser.

Closing browsers is not always enough. Disabling all Java content through Control Panel is also one of the best ways to resolve Java error 1603.

7. Open the Troubleshooter Installation and Removal Utility

Although Windows does not offer a troubleshooter when you install programs, you can download one when you install or uninstall programs.

This troubleshooting can resolve Java error 1603. You can add the troubleshooter to Windows 10 by clicking the Download button.

Then open the folder where you saved the installation program and click MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab to open the window shown in the following screenshot.

8. Unable to install Java with LogMeIn

LogMeIn users encountered Java error 1603 when trying to install Java remotely.

LogMeIn users have discovered that the installation error may be related to the LogMeIn Remote Desktop software.

So if you use LogMeIn when installing Java, throw that program away and install Java on the PC without the remote desktop program.
